In what is (not) there – voz iz (nisht) do baut Andrea Morein eine Art ‚Mapping‘ ihrer Lebensthemen, die sie multimedial und interdsiziplinär verarbeitet. So wie viele ihrer Arbeiten ist auch diese Werkübersicht eine Collage jenseits einer chronologischen Abfolge. Sie bebildert Themen zur Suche nach Verortung (Bleiben oder Gehen?) quer durch fast vier Jahrzehnte - mehr noch: nach einem Einswerden jenseits von Geografie und Identität.

Andrea Moreins Fotoarbeiten, Zeichnungen, Performances, Installationen und Videos werden ergänzt durch eigene Texte - zumeist auf Englisch - und Textzitaten u.a. auf Jiddisch.
Sie untersucht, wie die persönliche Erfahrung der eigenen Geschichte erweitert und in ein größeres Gefühl von Gemeinschaft und Universalität eingebettet werden kann.
Ihre künstlerische Praxis ist gleichzeitig eine Befragung des Mediums selbst als Austragungs-ort für Darstellungsweisen von Erinnerung und Historizität

In what is (not) there - voz iz (nisht) do Andrea Morein constructs a kind of “mapping” of her life themes, which she processes using multimedia and interdisciplinary methods. Like many of her works, this overview of her oeuvre is a collage that unfolds beyond a chronological sequence. It illustrates themes spanning almost four decades, focusing on the search for a sense of belonging (stay or go?) – and even more than that: the search for unity beyond geography and identity.

Her photo-works, drawings, installations, performances and videos are complemented by her own texts – mostly in English-, as well as text quotes in other languages such as Yiddish.
She explores how personal experiences of one's own history can be expanded and embedded in a greater sense of community and universality. Her work is also an interrogation of the medium itself as a venue for the representation of memory and historicity.
