Instants umfasst einen neuen Film des Schweizer Künstlers Hannes Schüpbach und einen literarischen Text des französischen Archäologen und Schriftstellers Joël-Claude Meffre. Das künstlerische Projekt und die dazu erscheinende Publikation mit einem Essay von Marco Baschera («Denken in Bildern») widmen sich einer zentralen Schnittstelle der Künste: dem AUGENBLICK. Der fotografische, filmische oder literarische Augenblick bedeutet mit seinem ?Auftreten? oder ?Einfallen? eine performative Öffnung im Ablauf der Zeit, die jede Vorstellung von Linearität radikal durchbricht. In neuster Zeit umfasst sein Werk vor allem Filme in 16mm ohne Ton, die sowohl in Museen wie auch an den grossen Filmfestivals gezeigt werden. Joël-Claude Meffre beschäftigt sich in seinen Texten mit biografischen und fiktionalen Erinnerungsmomenten. Marco Baschera ist Professor für vergleichende Literaturwissenschaft an der Universität Zürich. Einer seiner Forschungsschwerpunkte sind die Implikationen der Mehrsprachigkeit.

Instants encompasses a new film by the Swiss artist Hannes Schüpbach and a literary text by the French archeologist and writer Joël-Claude Meffre. The artistic project and the publication that was created for it, with an essay by Marco Baschera (?Thinking in Images?), are devoted to a central point of convergence of the arts: the INSTANT. In photography, film, or literature, the instant in its ?entrance? or ?descent? signifies a performative opening in the sequence of time that radically breaks through any concept of linearity. Hannes Schüpbach first became known in the 1990s for his painting suites experienced in motion. Most recently, his work has mainly involved 16mm silent films that are shown in museums as well as at major film festivals. Joël-Claude Meffre is concerned, in his texts, with biographical and fictional aspects of memory. Marco Baschera is Professor of Comparative Literature at the University of Zurich. His research interests include the implications of multilingualism.
