"Brooklyn-based artists Jennifer and Kevin McCoy have produced work together for the past eight years. Their practice is an enquiry into genre and repetition in popular culture and so far their work has manifested itself as video, installation, photography, performance and on-line. Based on the rich sources of cultural common denominators stemming from film and television, each piece by the McCoys presents something of a platform from which further exploration is stimulated. By their suggestive use of visual material the visitor is lured into taking an active role when entering the gallery space. It is likely we have experienced some of the material on view beforehand - a certain film or television character - and this familarity establishes common ground for communication.
