It takes place when it doesn´t. On dance and performance since 1989 follows the congress of Tanzquartier Wien to which we had invited participants from all over Europe to talk about new geographies and artistic workforms and workspaces in the fields of dance and performance, about the widely interweaved and cross-referencing, often indistinguishable and multiply coded cultural figures of production, reception and reflection. The focus was beyond the borders of disciplines and beyond the classical play of presentation and interpretation. Also, it was about showing spaces of action that lie outside the hermetic and taxonomic models of representation of a medial and academic discourse mostly reproducing areas of terminology or dichotomies like Western/ Non-Western, which by now have become canonical.(Krassimira Kruschkova/ Gerog Schöllhammer/ Martina Hochmuth)
